I have just written to my 2 senators to protest their approval of the appointment of Dr. Rice as Secretary of State and to beg them to vote against Gonzales. You can find contact information for your Senators here. Please write to them about this. Writing and faxing a letter is best, but email will do. Time is growing short. Do it now.
I suggested to them that while popular opinion says a President has wide leeway in picking his cabinet, the Founders did write into the Constitution provision for the Senate's advice and consent for a reason. And it is their duty to exercise that right; their duty to their country and their constituents. Not to mention the people in detainment who have been tortured with Gonzales' approval. Nothing abrogates that duty.
