I believe I've commented before that odd things turn up in referrer logs. Well they do, though things have been a bit quiet lately. Just recently though Thailand and North Korea have turned up as new countries heard from.
Also someone did a google search: "marykay" bad. I wonder what it was they were actually looking for. The got Mary Kay cosmetics (of course), Mary Kay Letorneau and me. Am I bad?
And around 10am this morning (PDT) someone did a google: mary kay kare blog. Since google is good, my blog was in fact the first thing to turn up, but I'm always a bit taken aback by this sort of thing. I'm sure it's all very innocent, but I just don't think of myself as someone other people would google for. I mean, like all the rest of you I do vanity googling, but other people googling me? Weird.
I also note that the other 2 blogs which turn up most consistently in my referrer logs are Erosblog and Electrolite. Which amuses me if nothing else.
And, completely off topic, I had planned to address the question of religion which is currently so hot in the blogospher. Then I read Kathryn Cramer's post on religion and my head exploded. But in a good way. So I'm doing a lot of thinking and re-evaluating things right now and by the time I get things settled down enough to know what I want to say, we'll all have moved on. C'est la vie.
Yes, yes. I'm here. If you absolutely are dying to know what I've been up to you can check my live journal.
Tomorrow there will be cat blogging, an area where I've been seriously remiss! In the meantime...
Avedon Carol expounds on a quote from Woodward in re that jerk at 1600 Pennsylvania.
I am deeply embarassed, yet again, for my country. Apparently Canada is thinking about adding Fox News to its tv fare. A columnist for the Globe wrote an article saying, basically, yeah, that's be good for laughs. Bill O'Reilly, may the fleas of a thousand camels nest in his armpits, took exception to this on his Fox show. And the columnist got a barrage of hate mail from O'Reilly watchers. He writes it up here. There's really a serious debilitating illness in this country. And I don't know what to do about it. The hate mongers, mostly on the right, have made it acceptable, even admirable, to insult and degrade people who disagree with your opinions. If it isn't fixed, I seriously believe it could be fatal to our democratic republic.
if it's always this quiet around here. No. I just haven't had time to do anything for a couple of weeks now. Things should slow down after this weekend and I'll be back. Threat or promise, as you like.
I don't really have time right now to comment on this whole thing at the length I would prefer. (Why I ever thought doing seating charts for the Nebula banquet would be easy is simply beyond me.) And I'm going to be traveling most of next week. If it hasn't disappeared when I have time again maybe then.
Well the RNC appears to have finally and completely lost it. The Washington Post says they said
"AN UNPRECEDENTED criminal enterprise designed to impermissibly affect a presidential election." That was the heated accusation leveled last week by the Bush campaign and the Republican National Committee against the Kerry campaign, an array of outside Democratic groups working to defeat President Bush and several big donors to those groups.
