The hits just keep comin'

Another milestone on the march to electablility

I really need to own this book

There are many possible reasons for the tremendous success of "Eats, Shoots & Leaves," a spritely volume that leads the reader through the valley of the shadow of comma splice; refers to the apostrophe as "our long-suffering little friend"; makes a rousing case for the semicolon's usefulness in, among other things, "calling a bunch of brawling commas to attention"; and describes Woodrow Wilson's inexplicable visceral hatred of the hyphen, which he called — spectacularly undermining his own argument — "the most un-American thing in the world."

They're getting color piccies now! For the big picture, which actually made me gasp.

Zogby on polls and polling.

The BBC has wonderful travel site with recommendations on things to see, things to do, places to stay, where to eat, and just about everything. Maybe I'll make finally getting to Italy my new year's resolution.

It's a fun little book - I read it last month! the only point I disagree with is that I am rather fond of emoticons, and she isn't...

... and I am suddenly overcome with embarrassment at that entirely unwarranted exclamation mark.

Apparently it's only available in the UK so I'll have to decide if I want to do that. Given the dollar's recent fall, maybe not. And then too, UK and US punctuation does differ somewhat.
